Pollination – Science

Pollination
Pollination is pollen grains that get transferred from the anther to a female stigma. Once it gets transferred to the female stigma, it gets an opportunity to reproduce into a fruit. There are 2 types of pollination, when Insects come to the flower or when wind pushes a pollen grain to a stigma.

Insect Way
A bee is going to be my example for now. A bee goes to collect nectar from the flowers but during the process of collecting nectar, pollen grains stick onto the bees body. Although the bees don’t really care in this situation, sometimes when a bee flies, its pollen grains might fall off into a stigma and the flower may reproduce into a fruit.

Wind Way
This only works in some flowers/plants but this flower has its anther out which pollen grains usually get caught into the wind. Now since it’s tiny and light, it can easily get carried away by the wind to another flower making a reproduction into a fruit.

Flowers actually depend on insects/birds or winds for reproduction. Without pollination we wouldn’t be able to eat fruits till this day.
