Task Description: For Writing, Team Tui were learning about Narrative Writing. Here are the answers to the questions, we all answered. (Yavi, Moe n Sadaw)
The orientation of any narrative is crucial. What details has the author provided to orient the reader about who, what & where?
Who? Toby, the Shark and the Author.
What? The Author went surfing with his dog Toby but a shark game and started taking chunks out of the board but soon enough the shark lost interest and they were saved
Where? The ocean/sea/beach.
What is the problem or the conflict in the story? Think of another conflict or problem the narrator would have to solve The shark biting the surfboard and another problem that might have occured is that he would have to buy a new surfboard ( they are really expensive )
How old do you think the narrator is? Why do you think he or she was chosen for the role? 20+ i think this because he is surfing with no parent supervision and the narrator was maybe chosen knew what to do in this situation
Why do you think this is an action-adventure narrative? Explain your reason.
Because they had a near death experience with a Shark.
From the text, write 3 adjectives and nouns they are describing. Come up with your own 3 pairs of adjectives + nouns.
(From the text,) Interesting, Miserable, Careful (ADJECTIVES)
(From the text,) Shark, Surfboard, Noun. ( NOUN )
Adventurous, Knowledgeable, Logical
Dog, Beach, Surf
Describe the setting. Invent a setting that you think would be better or more appropriate – such as a sinking vessel, a deserted island or a fishing boat.
The setting takes place in the ocean/sea. Because if there was a shark the shark could only be in the ocean, beach or sea. So the setting takes place in those places.
How was the problem resolved in the story? Do you think it was a good resolution? Why or why not?
The problem was resolved because the shark didn’t hurt Toby and the Boy, but
The shark took a bite out of the surfboard.
I think it was a good resolution because the shark decided not to bite the boy. Instead of that the shark took a bite of the surfboard.
