Lisa Carrington is the most successful flatwater canoeist in New Zealand Olympic history. She has won five gold medals and one bronze medal, six in total. To be on her level is definitely years to take. As, building up momentum to row a canoe with your own strength is hard enough.

Lisa Carrington’s Background
Her full name is Dame Lisa Marie Carrington, she has a spouse and a dog named Collin. Lisa Carrington is 35 years old, born on 23 June 1989. She lives in Tauranga New Zealand and represents NZ in the Olympics. Her husband’s name is Michael and her parent’s names are Glynis and Pat Carrington. Lisa also has two older brothers named Shaun and Brett Carrington.

Achievements
Lisa Carrington and Teneale Hatton were the first NZ kayakers to reach the world sprint championship final in Poland Olympics, they finished ninth in the finals. Lisa Carrington has a great reputation due to her three games that have won six medals. Five gold and one bronze medal. It’s astonishing to know that she has been the sportswoman of the year, six times at Halberg Awards. Not only that but Lisa Carrington has been honoured in all sorts of ways in New Zealand. She was made a member of the New Zealand Order of Merit and in 2022 she became Dame Lisa when she was promoted to Dame Companion of NZ Order of Merit. There are more awards and titles that are lost on the internet but she is established for a great reason.

Lisa’s Childhood Hobbies
As a child Lisa Carrington used to play netball and contemplated the thought of becoming a Silver Fern. However, Netball was not the only sport she played back then. Lisa Carrington also adored swimming and as she grew up she’d involve herself in competitive surf lifesaving competitions. Which includes, swimming, sand-running and surf skiing.

Lisa Carrington is a great role model for everyone. She obtained many awards and titles, participated in a lot of competitions and mostly won gold medals. She has faced many hard challenges and quotes, “You may fall, but it’s okay.” New Zealand is proud to have her to represent this country in the Olympics.
